The State Games South Carolina is a multi-sport Olympic-style competition put on by and for the residents of South Carolina. An initiative of Notus Sports, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the State Games South Carolina is officially recognized as a United States Olympic Committee State Games Program Participant. Part of a nationwide network of State Games of America, this event provides the opportunity to gain exposure and experience in a nationally recognized sports competition.
The goal of the State Games is to inspire South Carolinians of every age to develop athletic skills and abilities by encouraging them to participate in physical fitness activities. This will be accomplished by promoting physical fitness and sports activities as a means of improving the health of each participant and motivating South Carolina athletes to participate in local, state, national, and international competitions.
There are currently 31 states conducting or organizing statewide sports festivals known as State Games. Modeled after the Olympic Games, State Games provide a motivational goal for all athletes within the state in which they are organized. Recreational and competitive events are offered in most states, so whether participants compete for fun or as the first step towards their Olympic dream, there’s something for everybody in the State Games!
All South Carolina residents, college students and military personnel who have lived in the state for at least 30 days prior to the day of the competition, and who meet the specific requirements for their sport of interest, may compete. South Carolina residents attending college or serving in the military in another state are also eligible to compete. Participants in developing individual sports residing close to a neighboring state line may be eligible to compete.
State Games South Carolina reserves the right to restrict individuals and/or teams from competing in the Games for the best interest of the event.
The State Games South Carolina will be held May 27 – June 18, 2017.
